Anti-Favorites – barking dogs, getting a spanking
Once again, I feel like she has learned A LOT this month :)
Abigail is an expert at crawling and standing up, and she has decided that her favorite toys are things like electrical outlets rather than actualy toys. She can also take steps when we hold her hands. With the advent of Abigail’s enhanced mobility enters the new frontier of discipline. Teaching her to understand “no” and “no touch” is no fun (for us and for Abigail)!
She still doesn’t have any teeth, but I think I’m going to start introducing table foods soon anyways. Even babies with teeth use their back gums to chew just like we use our back molars to chew, so the fact that she doesn’t have her front teeth shouldn’t pose any choking hazards.
Abigail has never been a good napper, but this month she is especially terrible at napping! I always put her down for 2 naps a day at the same time and leave her there for at least 1.5 hours even if she’s not sleeping :) I think the idea of playing, standing, and crawling is more fun than sleeping to her! She’s gotten back to where she’ll sleep for about an hour for each nap; I would certainly prefer 2 hours, but I’ll take what I can get :)
Abigail’s speech has improved as well! The babbling continues, but there have been a few times when it sounded like she was trying to copy what I said (“byebye” for example). We are housesitting for a few weeks for a family who has a dog, so I’ve been trying to teach her to say “dog” as well. She is definitely calling the dog something, it just doesn’t sound quite like dog :) Abigail is also waving, not consistently, but she definitely copies me when I do it.
Here are some pictures from this month:
Lastly, I would like to apologize for the lack of blog entries! We’ve had family in town, we moved, and now we’re housesitting, so opportunities have been limited. But don’t worry, we have a lot in store for the next couple of weeks to share with you!
